Kish Off

On the heels of getting rid of Daphne Duplaix (Rachel) and Scott Clifton (Schuyler) comes the news that One Life to Live is letting Scott Evans (Fish) and Brett Claywell(Kyle) go. The show executive producer, Frank Valentini had this to say:

“We are concluding the story that we set out to tell with Kyle and Fish. We are very proud to have broken new ground with a same-sex couple on daytime.”

Allegedly, the network officials were concern the couple didn’t catch on with a larger audience. If this is true, it is funny because this story brought the 41-year-old soap mainstream attention that it has rarely received among the three ABC soaps.

Evans and Claywell are expected to exit in mid-April

Update: Robin Strasser Re-signs

robin stresserOne Life to Live’s Robin Strasser has decided to re-sign to continue to play Dorian Lord. The Emmy winner made her announcement on her hotline.

“My dear friends, a heart attack has been averted,” Strasser cheerfully reported. “It is my pleasure to announce that I’ve said yes. Yes! What did I say affirmatively yes to? The whole deal of continuing to play Dorian. I can’t allow it to be about money. It’s paycut time. Daytime is hanging on a thread… I believe that. I get it.”

Will Robin Strasser Leave One Life to Live?

robin stresserAnother soap vet can be added to the list of stars that the networks is asking to take a pay cut.  One Life to Live’s Robin Strasser (Dorian) is in contract negotiations and both sides has come to a stalemate.

Strasser left a message on her fan hotline where she talked about the  negotiations.

“I know that it is a bigger pay cut than other actors have been asked to take. And anybody who has been asked to take a larger pay cut was making two or three times as much as I was. In 2002, when Frank Valentini broke the blacklist and got me back on the show, that necessitated me taking a 63% paycut. What I am seeing is something that feels disprespectful, something that feels inequitable, I know it to be inequitable, and it makes me feel discriminated against.”

Strasser has announced that the powers that be has asked her to wait before making any further comments about the contract negotiations until they return from vacation.

I hope that both sides can come to an agreement. I want Robin to stay on OLTL. I can’t imagine the show without her.
