Herbst Stays At General Hospital
Some good news! General Hospital has reverse their decision to let Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth) go.
“Rebecca Herbst will continue on as Elizabeth Webber,” ABC said in a statement. “The show is thrilled she will remain on the canvas to portray the beloved character in many more poignant and emotional stories. Fans will be pleased to see Rebecca continue the role she created.”
Rebecca Herbst Let Go From General Hospital
Popular General Hospital Star, Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth) has been let go from the soap she has called home since 1997.
ABC issued this statement: “Storyline dictates the exit of Elizabeth Webber this spring. The next few months promise to be a not miss story for the character. We at ABC and General Hospital wish Rebecca Herbst nothing but the best in all of her future endeavors.”
Nancy Lee Grahn Signs a New Deal
General Hospital star, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) has signed a new four year deal to stay on the ABC soap.
Brianna Brown (Lisa, General Hospital) Interview
Brianna Brown took over the role of General Hospital’s Dr. Lisa Niles early this year and she has been making quite a splash as Dr. Patrick Drake’s ex who wants him back, and she won’t let a little thing like his wife stand in the way.
In real life, Brianna Brown is very different from Lisa. I got to interview this talented, funny, and down-to-earth actress and producer.
Tell the readers a little about yourself. Where did you grow up?
I grew in Apple Valley, MN which is a suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Within walking distance from the Minnesota Zoo and in very close proximity to the Mall of America (yes, I’ve ridden the rollercosters there…and I love them!).
Did you always wanted to be an actress?
I always loved performing but coming from a family that was rooted in business and medicine being an actress seemed like an impossible profession growing up.
What drew you to the role of Dr. Lisa Niles?
When Jill Farren-Phelps and Bob Guza Jr. discussed the role with me I fell in love with the idea of playing such a complex character that could have a “fatal attraction” storyline. Since most of the roles I’ve played have been more ingenue or victims playing such a strong, confident character seemed like a fun challenge.
What are some similarities and differences between you and your character?
There are many differences between myself and Dr Lisa Niles which is such a wonderful opportunity for me as an actress. I would NEVER hit on a married man, I’m very involved with women’s organizations. Similarly I’m very athletic, I like going out for an occasional drink with friends, though I’m more of a wine/champagne gal. I think the biggest similarity between myself and Lisa is that I can work hard and play hard…you won’t find Brianna Brown doing shots upside down on a bar!
Patrick and Lisa were together in college. Why do you think she is still carrying a torch for him after all these years?
I think because it was the most significant romantic relationship in her life and she believes if circumstances/timing had been different that they could have lasted.
Lisa is coming between the popular “Scrubs.” How have the fans reacted towards you?
I love the General Hospital fans, even those who aren’t very keen on Dr. Lisa Niles, not that I can’t blame them, because they are so passionate and loyal to the characters on the show. My biggest compliment is when someone “hates” my character because I’m coming between “Scrubs” but they think I’m doing a great job.
Lisa is getting close to Steven Webber to make Patrick jealous. Is there a chance that she could develop real feelings for him?
Lisa tells Steve that she doesn’t believe in “the one” but she believes he could be “the one for right now.” I think she genuinely likes Steve but isn’t thinking long-term because she’s not a long-term kinda gal.
Can you give any hints on what is coming up for Lisa?
It…Gets…Interesting!!!
You started a non-profit women’s group, “The New Hollywood.” What is the group about?
The group consists of women, mainly within the entertainment industry, who come together to help support each other with their personal and professional goals as well as giving back to the community by donating to various charities. It’s an amazing support network for women to come together, be fully supportive of each other and to reach for their dreams. Whether it is to be an amazing mother to landing the next feature film role and everything else in between. Find us at www.TheNewHollywood.org
You are co-producing a short film and a web series. What is 5151 Bridge Street and Retail Therapy about?
5151 Bridge Street is about A young white woman on a search for inner peace who gets stuck in an elevator with an older stoic black man . Both characters are dealing with the residue of the apartheid. Retail Therapy is a comedy about five completely different women who come together to try and make a baby clothing store (for celebrity tots) function while avoiding the pitfalls of their personal chaos and dysfunction.
